Active Release Technique (ART) is a patented state of the art, hands-on soft tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.
Neck and back pain, headaches, muscle pulls/strains, bursitis, hip and knee pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and nerve entrapments are just a few of the many problems that can be resolved quickly with ART.
An ART session with a certified provider is a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. ART is non-invasive, very safe and has a record of producing excellent results.
This technique can be used as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with the chiropractic adjustment. Performing ART prior to the adjustment facilitates muscular adaptation, helps the patient tolerate the adjustment with ease and helps the adjustment stay for a longer period of time.
At Health Partners, we are happy to offer Chiropractors who are certified providers of ART. Dr. Chad Thompson and Dr. Jody Martin have both completed the Master’s Certification program through Active Release Techniques and have been providing this form of therapy for more than 10 years. Their training and certification with ART include Upper Limb, Lower Limb, Spine, Nerve Entrapment, and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Diagnosis.
